Criticism and legitimation of Swiss parliamentary professionalization

Considering the Swiss case, where the level of political professionalization in globally weak, this paper presents the main characteristics and legitimacy issues linked to the professionalization of parliamentary representatives. In particular, it shows how, for thirty years, and especially since the early 1990s, in a changing political context, the remuneration of these representatives has been consistently increasing, generating new struggles in terms of their legitimacy.
